ST3400 Click on image for enlarged viewDescription:
The industry's best-selling integrated TAWS for corporate, regional and air transport markets, the Sandel ST3400 is an integrated panel-mount system that outperforms cumbersome remote-mount TAWS systems that weigh and cost far more. A 3-ATI-size system that features a TAWS database, processor and oversized, high-resolution color display in a single unit, the ST3400 meets TSO C151b for both Class A and Class B requirements. Also incorporating RMI functionality, the ST3400 serves as a drop-in replacement for conventional RMI units, displaying terrain maps, topographic maps, navigation waypoint maps and TCAS data.

Operational benefits:

  • Complete FAA TAWS compliance
  • Meets Class A TAWS requirements for airlines and Part 135 operations
  • Meets Class B TAWS requirements for Part 91 operations
  • Full-time terrain display
  • Runway and waypoint overlay
  • Integrated TAWS computer and flat-panel display
  • RMI display
  • Highly reliable

Functional benefits:

  • Drop-in, 3-ATI form factor
  • Easy and inexpensive to install
  • Costs up to 50% less than other TAWS
  • No "happy boxes" required
  • Works with digital and analog avionics
  • A wide variety of FMS/GPS interfaces
  • TCAS I display option

TAWS Terrain Awareness and Warning System

TAWS Click on image for enlarged viewDescription:
Our TAWS Terrain Awareness and Warning System is designed to provide the pilot with increased situational awareness and reduce the possibility of accidents associated with Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT). The TAWS system takes aircraft state information from onboard sensors along with flight path intent information from our Flight Management System and combines these with its own internal worldwide terrain database. The resulting unprecedented “look-ahead” capability can provide warnings and alerts well in advance of potential hazards, allowing time for the pilot to make the necessary maneuvers or data corrections for terrain avoidance.

TAWS provides the pilot with hazard advisories along with real-time graphical displays of the terrain surrounding the aircraft dynamically displayed in three views: Map View as if looking down from above, Profile View as if looking from the side, and a unique 3-D Perspective View. These views are available on video-capable devices such as our MFD-640 Flat Panel Multi-Function Display and our FMS Control Display Units with 5-inch screens—both available for new and older aircraft alike. A Map View of terrain is available via ARINC 708/708A for radar displays.
